So What do They Eat?
They mainly feed on a variety of insects such as crickets and moths, spiders and some of the smaller kinds of animals, such as mice and lizards and maybe even the odd bird or two. You may even find some scorpions feeding on their own kind, such as the smaller or baby scorpions.
Scorpions can survive on very little moisture but have been known to drink water too in areas where it is available, since many scorpions are desert dwelling arachnids. Many species of scorpions do not drink any water at all, but in the case of keeping a pet scorpion it is advisable to make water available to them. Scorpions that live in the rain forests and the grasslands often drink water which is available in the various pools and streams dotted around the area.
Keeping a scorpion as a pet – safe handling
Although many people are scared of scorpions because of their fearsome reputation, many species can be safely kept, enjoyed and reared as very interesting and exotic pets. Just be aware that their pincers can be rather nippy and handle them with care.
