One bite that is left out is that of a “triatoma” a.k.a. kissing/assassin bug (sometimes mentioned as bed bug). There are people (like me, now) who became sensitized to them. In Mexico, their bites are often fatal. These ~ 1″ bugs inject you with anesthetic and a blood thinner when they bite – you don’t feel a thing in spite of their size. They can suck your blood for up to 15 minutes… You wake up with hellish itching… in my case, after 4 summers…I went into anaphylactic shock – which can lead to death… by suffocation on your swollen lungs, bronchi, etc. Be aware (especially if you live in the SW USA or South of)…

I work in a hospital. We have seen hyperactivity in scorpion bites. If your child is bitten again, take them to the emergency room. This is a reaction and your child should be monitored medically.

Anyone ever hear of a 4 year-old child becoming hyper/over-active from a scorpion sting aside from minor localized pain?
These were the only two symptoms my child exhibited from the sting. He did not cry for more than 2 minutes. I thought it was really strange but that was what we experienced.

About the brown recluse spider habitat you’ll find them mostly in the following areas: In the United States from the southern Midwest south to the Gulf of Mexico; (it has not been recorded from Canada) and from southeastern Nebraska through southern Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana to southwestern Ohio. In the southern states, it s habitat runs from central Texas to western Georgia.
