Scorpions: The Black Emperor Scorpion

These small exotic pets have gained in popularity over the years, certainly preferred now to the older preference for mice, guinea pigs and gerbils.

What do black scorpions eat, particularly Black Emperor ones?

In the wild they mainly eat a variety of insects, but as a pet in the home you could get some crickets to feed them on or moths. They only need to be fed about 3 to 4 times a week and one cricket at a time, which is best presented to them at night. Watch out for their claws when handling!

Regarding the lifespan of scorpions vs tarantulas:

Male tarantulas die soon after reaching sexual maturity, so they will live between 2 and 4 years (depending on species). Female tarantulas will live anywhere between 15 to 30 years, depending on species and quality of life.

Emperor Scorpions will live between 5 to 8 years, depending on quality of life and somewhat luck.
